It is impossible to live life without risk and yet many try. Our Christianity and Churches have all too often become almost risk-free environments. Many of us have been raised in a risk-averse culture and the epidemic of paranoid parenting is in danger of raising a generation of risk-averse children who may in turn become play-it-safe adults. This teaching challenges the idea of living a risk-avese life and encourages us to step out of the boat and live more dangerously. Nothing great happens without risk.
